Want to bring third-party data or apps into a Nifty project? Nifty's custom views allow you to add custom embeds, integrating external apps directly into your projects!
Using the Embed Module
Click on the module selector '+' button on your Task board.
Next select Add Custom view.
You'll be directed to the Project Control Center, where you can choose from various embed categories or select Add Custom View to create your own. Note that the examples provided are just a starting point—many other products and custom websites with Share or public links can also be embedded into Nifty!
Adding a Link
When embedding a link, follow these steps to determine the correct URL to use:
Publicly Available Content: If you want to link to something that is publicly accessible, like a website landing page or a web form, simply drop the link directly.
Sign-In Required or Public Link Needed: For content that requires sign-in or offers a public link (e.g., web documents, prototypes, or mind maps), make sure to use the public version of the link.
Example: To find the public link for a YouTube video, follow these steps:
Once you've selected the appropriate link, it's time to name your Project View and drop the link in. Hit Create once you're finished.
And there you go! You've created a Project View for this project!
Editing or Deleting a Project View
Access the Project Control Center: Click the
+
button on your Task board to return to the Project Control Center.Edit or Delete: Hover over the Custom View you want to modify. Select the pencil icon to edit or use the available options to delete the view.
From here you can adjust the module name, link, or delete the module entirely.
Navigating Project Views
Depending on the module you're in and the number of Project Views you've added, some views might be deeper in your list. To locate these views:
Hover Over Modules: Move your cursor over the project modules.
Scroll to Find Views: Use the scroll function to navigate through the list of additional Project Views.
When Public Link Isn't Working
Some apps, like Miro and Airtable, require you to use the embed link rather than the public share link. Here's how to ensure it works correctly:
Isolate the Embed URL: Obtain the embed URL from the embed code provided by the app.
Place Only the URL in Nifty: Use just the URL in Nifty. If you have the entire embed code, remove everything except the URL.
This will ensure proper embedding of your third-party app into your Nifty project.
Here's where we're cutting away the to code to be just the URL:

When Embed Isn't Working
If you encounter an error message or see a frowny face, it may be due to the link not supporting embedding. Unfortunately, not all web experiences can be embedded into Nifty.
Additional Notes:
Desktop vs. Browser: In some cases, embedding might work on our Desktop App but not on the Browser App. This discrepancy is due to how the external link's embedding restrictions are set up and is beyond our control.
If this is as much a bummer to you as it is to us, we encourage you to reach out to these tools and kindly consider that they reconsider their embedding policy.
