Notifications, Assignments, and Task Subscription

Learn what it means to be subscribed to a task, and more.

The goal is to ensure that all notifications you receive are relevant to you. While you can shape which notifications you'd like to receive (and how you'd like to receive them) from outside of Nifty within the Notification Preferences page, let's look at the underlying trigger of notifications: subscription.

Task Subscription

Being subscribed to a task means you'll receive notifications about it, such as when that task is overdue, sending a reminder, is completed, or has missed comments.

Certain actions automatically subscribe you to a task, specifically:

  • Creating a task

  • Being assigned a task

  • Being @tagged within a task

In these instances, you won't need to manually subscribe to a task to receive notifications about it.

Similarly, being unassigned to a task will unsubscribe you.

Manually Subscribing & Unsubscribing

While subscriptions to tasks will be added automatically in the cases mentioned above, you can also manually subscribe or unsubscribe yourself or others to tasks to ensure relevant collaborators receive relevant updates.

You can do this a variety of ways.

Subscribe / Unsubscribe Within a Task

Add yourself as a subscriber within a task or in the List View Subscribe column.

Subscribe / Unsubscribe in Bulk

Holding shift + clicking an array of tasks will allow you to bulk subscribe or unsubscribe from List view.

Subscribe / Unsubscribe via Automation

You can create specific rules through which subscription occurs via Nifty's automation builder.
