Editing and Deleting Messages

Edit or delete your (or in some cases, other's) messages in Nifty to maintain clarity and professionalism within communications channels.

Whether its to change messaging, improve clarity, or remove confusion, there are many reasons a message might need to be changed or removed.

Who can edit or delete messages?

  • Anyone can edit or delete messages they sent

  • Those in Owner and Admin roles can edit the messages of others

  • Custom Roles can be given the ability to edit other's messages

Enabling Editing Other's Messages

Access the Workspace Control Center via the dropdown menu.

In the Chat Settings section of the control center, enable Others can edit messages.

Editing or Deleting A Message

Hover over your message in Nifty to reveal the pencil icon.

After selecting the icon, select Edit or Delete. In the case of other's messages, you will only see the Edit option.

Editing a Message

Select the Edit option via the pencil icon on hover.

When editing a message, you will be able to click into the message to make the necessary changes in the text box. Once finished, hit enter on your keyboard to save, or esc to cancel.

Edited messages will show a note indicating their altered status as well as who edited the message on hover.

Deleting a Message

Selecting the Delete option instead of edit via the pencil icon will allow you to delete the message.

Granting Edit Permissions to a Custom Role

In addition to Owners and Admins, a Custom Roles can be given the ability to edit or delete other's messages.

The Workspace Owner can grant grant these permissions to a custom role under the Chat section of the Custom Roles & Permissions tab of Members & Permissions in Workspace Settings.
