Nifty’s AI Project Builder lets you generate full workflows — including Lists, Statuses, Tasks, and Custom Fields — from a simple prompt. You can edit before creation, and every project is saved as a reusable template.
Creating Project using Nifty AI
Start by creating a Project within your Workspace.
Creating Your Project from a Prompt
Within the AI Template option, enter a phrase that describes the type of project you want to create. Examples include:
Website creation for eCommerce
Email marketing drip campaign
Agile sprint management
Real estate transaction
Kitchen renovation
Corporate event
...or any other project you're looking to manage!
Note: You can also use detailed specifications documents as prompts. Feel free to paste your project outlines or functional specifications to instantly build out your project.
Select the AI Builder tab.
Once you’ve entered your prompt, select the Generate Preview button to proceed to the next step.
Previewing and Editing the Project
Once the preview is generated, you'll see a preview of your project's Task board on the left side of the screen. On the right sidebar is the template customization menu.
Here you can:
Add a name for your project
Select the Portfolio your project should be created in
Determine if the Project should be Public (visible by all Portfolio members) or Private (requiring specific invitations aside from the project creator and workspace owner).
Preview and set the default view of the project's task board.
Continuing to scroll down in the editor sidebar will allow you to preview, edit, and remove details of the project, such as the Lists (task groupings or phases), Statuses (steps in a task's lifecycle), and Tasks/Subtasks within the template.

Customizing Your AI-Generated Project
While our AI is quite powerful, it's common to need some adjustments to better fit your specific workflow. You can click into the Lists, Statuses, and Tasks sections to edit their contents before the project is officially created.
Note: Everything in the preview can be updated after the project is created, so you don’t need to finalize all details immediately if you're eager to see your project in action.
If the preview doesn’t meet your needs, simply input a new phrase to generate a different project preview.
Editing Lists
Lists group tasks into relevant categories or phases. Clicking on the Lists box will display the autogenerated Lists and show the number of tasks in each.
The generated Lists and Task content will be visible in the left side of the template preview tool.
You can edit the Lists and Tasks by hovering over the List tool in your sidebar and selecting the edit icon.
Changes made will be reflected in the template preview
With the Lists tool open, you'll see the individual Lists generated, and the corresponding data in the preview on the left side of the screen. You can edit an individual List via the option on hover.
You can click on a List's options on hover to edit the List itself.
Managing Tasks Within a List
Clicking on the Tasks dropdown within a List will expand the List to reveal the tasks it contains.
You'll note that the Tasks in your sidebar will be reflected within their respective List in the preview.
Here you can :
Edit Tasks: Click the pencil icon that appears on hover to make changes to a task.
Delete Tasks: Use the delete option that appears on hover to remove a task entirely.
Add New Tasks: Add additional tasks to the List at this time.
This allows you to customize your Lists and Tasks to better fit your project needs.
Editing Tasks
When you edit a task, you can add more parameters and details to it before the project is created. This ensures that your tasks are fully customized and meet your project's specific requirements.
Expanding and Editing Subtasks
You can expand tasks to view and edit any subtasks associated with them. This allows for a more detailed breakdown and customization of your task workflow.
Adding and Adjusting Lists
If the template is missing Lists relevant to your project, you can create new Lists at the bottom of the screen. To adjust the order of Lists, you can drag and drop them to reorder them. Use the Back button to return to the previous screen if needed.
Using Statuses as Lists & Removing Lists
Some workflows may not require Lists, as everything is managed through Status updates. Examples include bug tracking, ticket management, and project requests. In such cases, you can customize your project using the on-hover tools.
Use Lists as Statuses: This option will automatically transfer the items from Lists to the Status column of the preview and remove the Lists from the preview entirely.
Below is an example of the project before using this function:
And here it is after the Lists have been converted to Statuses. You'll notice that the previous Statuses have been replaced by the Lists:
Editing Statuses
Scroll down in your sidebar to find Statuses. You can edit or delete Statuses using the options available on hover.
When previewing Statuses, your preview task board will automatically orient to Kanban view with tasks grouped by Status. Statuses to use, we recommend starting with general phrases such as "To Do" and "In Progress". Depending on your industry or team, you may have more specific terms for task stages.
Tasks will automatically begin in the furthest left Status in your project Kanban view. Note that Completed is a default Status in Nifty, so it is automatically included and cannot be removed.
If the template is missing Statuses relevant to your project, you can create new Statuses at the bottom of the screen. To adjust the order of Statuses, you can drag and drop them to reorder them. Use the Back button to return to the previous screen if needed.
Editing Tasks
Tasks are the individual steps within your workflow. Subtasks allow you to add more granularity to the main Task.
Tasks and subtasks can be edited in either the List or Statuses screen as well as within the Tasks section of the template. Use the Back button to return to the previous screen.
Creating & Saving Your Template
Now that your project template is ready to go, name your project at the top and select the Create Project option to get started on your workflow within Nifty!
Note that, once the project is created from our AI, it will automatically be saved as template to be used again in the future.
