Lists and Statuses work together to bundle Tasks in different ways to provide different insights in the context of your project.
Visit this page to learn more about how Tasks Work.
Lists Group Tasks
Lists bundle Tasks together based on a common theme within the Project. They might be the phases of the project, the different work streams, or roles / people that need to execute the Tasks in the List.
Website examples of Lists might be: Kickoff, Design, Development, Launch
Content examples of Lists might be: June Blogs, July Blogs, August Blogs (etc).
Creating New & Renaming Lists
The List View of a Project will automatically group your Tasks by Lists.
You can create a new List via the + Add List button at the bottom of your Lists, or via the List dropdown menu from the Task column. The latter option will automatically relocate this Task to the new List.
Renaming Lists
Your first List will be named Untitled List by default unless you are working off of a template. Lists can be renamed via the Rename option found in their option menu on hover.
Statuses Segment Tasks
Statuses serve to segment your tasks on your Tasks screen. If you've created a project from scratch (without a template), you will have the default Statuses of To Do and Completed.
The Kanban screen of your Task board will automatically group your Tasks by Status.
You might only need To Do and Completed Statuses. Some other popular Statuses include In Progress and Review. You can even assign someone to a Status, thus automating an assignee for a Review step.
You can create new Statuses via the + Add Task/Status/List button
Automating Assignments Based on Status
Adding someone to the assignment tile at the top of the Status will assign them to every Task that enters that step, such as a Review, Editing, or QA step in a workflow.
Seeing the Big Picture
With your Lists and Statuses built out, you can understand the classification of a Task (List) as well as the Progress of a Task (Status) all at once!
